I traveled to Huntington Beach on June 19 in anticipation of my grandaughter's birth. The weather was hot, but all was ready to bring the new baby home. Fortunately, Heather's surgery was scheduled for 8:30 am and they had to be at the hospital by 6:30. That meant that Peyton did not have to see Mom leave. We had a fine time in the morning although he kept asking where they were. I told him that we would go visit them at the hospital where they were going to get baby sister. We finally got the call and rushed to Hoag Hospital. I have never seen Peyton at a loss for words or smiles, but he was at first. His fingers were in his mouth and he was just looking around. Daddy showed him "little sister", but he was confused. Little sister was that doll at his house! Now he has 2 little sisters!
For the next 3 days we hung out together until Mom, Dad and Kamdyn came home. Bringing baby Kamdyn home was just fine with him. So in the next couple of weeks I tried to take Peyton off their hands a little bit, just enough so he wouldn't feel left out, but enough to give Mom a rest. We played on the big fire truck, played baseball, swam, went to the park, fed the ducks, went to the store, etc. On my watch, he got a fat lip running down the lawn in the driveway and faceplanted on the sidewalk. oooops! The kid is crazy funny and a bundle of energy. Getting him to take a nap is a battle of wits...who is smarter here...many times it is him. He knows when you are pushing him in the wrong direction in the stroller. That's OK, you all know my sense of direction. He could have gotten me home. In these pictures, you will see him with his shorts on his head, feeding a doll in practice for when Kamdyn got home, wearing his jammies and my shoes, giving Kamdyn a bath, and looking at the animals at the farm we visited. I had a great time with him.
