Peyton is baptised

On October 14, about 50 family and friends went to St. Bonaventure Catholic Church to watch Peyton Jaycob Perry be baptised. There were about 14 other children who were there for the same reason, but Peyton had the biggest support group of all. There were children of all ages from infants to about 7 years old. Father explained why we are baptized and explained the responsibilities of parents and godparents. Brian and Heather chose Heather's sister Carey and Brian's brother Joe to take the responsibilities of being Peyton's godparents. As you can see they also chose to have Peyton dunked instead of simply having Father pour water over his head. Brian and Heather put on a lovely luncheon after the ceremony, and the weather cooperated by not dumping rain on their parade. It did pour the night before and that morning. Peyton was blessed to have 2 of his Great Grandmothers (Ilo-Mae and Ruth), his Grandpa Bob all the way from Kansas and his Great Auntie Arlene, Great Uncle Bob, Great Auntie Kathy, cousin Chris, Becky and Tyler from San Mateo and many others from the southern California area in attendance. It was a beautiful day that Peyton will not remember, but we will remind him of it often.

Noni's bonds with Peyton

Because Genentech is so generous and gives it's employees 6 weeks to decompress every 6 years, I was able to spend some quality time with Peyton. It was not rushed like the quick weekends are, and it was not tiring with traveling times. I had him alone for at least 3 hours a day, and sometimes all day if Daddy had to go into work early. It was nice to spend mornings with Brian and evenings with Heather also. It is nice to have someone to eat dinner with, right Heather???? While I was there, Peyton and I did some Christmas shopping, took a lot of long walks, and had lots of visits with my friends and some of Peyton's friends. In the pictures above he is being big on Daddy's shoulders, playing with Mommy and cousin Taylor, and learning to sit up like a big boy. We visited one of my favorite places, Rancho los Cerritos, where he was invited to follow Uncle John and "be Harry Bixby" in a few years. He met Daddy's boyhood friend and his daughter Lillian, and lots of Noni's friends at the Fiesta at St. Cornelius where Daddy went to grammar school. Peyton loves to take rides in the car...it will usually put him right to sleep except at night. He still has only his two bottom teeth. Those top two are right there...but not through.
