San Diego Fires

This week I had the opportunity to go down to our Oceanside site and help our leadership group deal with all of the fires. I was asked to go at about 2 pm on Monday, and we were on the road with 2 vans full of supplies by 6:00. I was there until Friday morning helping in our emergency operation center. We were never really in danger, but the fires were very close. The winds could have changed the outcome at any time. We were available to house about 100 employees and their families, and planned in case we had to evacuate people and product. Losing that much product would be a huge blow to our patients, so we wanted to make sure that we were prepared for anything. Fortunately, it didn't come to that. The air quality was very poor, especially on Tuesday. We could see it all the way north of L.A.
I was able to see Brian and Peyton on the way back home. We were ready for lunch about the time we were passing Huntington Beach, so I called Brian and he and Peyton met us at the sandwich place. Peyton was very shy with the other guys who were traveling with me, but did give Kyle a high five and ate all the pickles and tomatoes from my sandwich. It was a nice little extra to be able to see them.

Noni catches you up

I know it has been a while since I updated, but I haven't had much to put in here. Life has been very busy, but with work and CERT things.
BUT, last weekend, I had a wonderful break from it all. My boys and their girls have been planning this for a while. Brian, Heather and Peyton came up to visit. My house was a mess...I was planning on cleaning up on Sunday, but I had better things to do...like blowing bubbles with Peyton, and taking Peyton to the "pok" to see the "ephant" and the "side". (In 18 month old talk that is going to the park to see the elephant and the slide.)

So, I am teaching a class and Joe keeps calling me asking when I will have a break. I told him we were running a little behind, but if he and Jody and Aiden want to come visit, come by the station at about 12:30. Just about then, here comes Joe through the door of the classroom holding Peyton! I was supposed to be there till 3, but was able to leave so that I could spend the afternoon and evening with my kids.

We went and got some sandwiches and then went home to eat. It was reminiscent of when my kids were little with 2 of them in high chairs, toys all over, and trying to make the house safe for toddlers (we only had a couple of misses). As we then tried to get the babies to sleep, John went to work and the other two boys took over. I now have sprinklers restored to the back yard, a screen door rewire, and the BEST - shower pressure. Since we moved here, we have never had hot water shower pressure. Wow...

We had a nice family dinner with all the kids...John was able to come home on his dinner break. We barbequed, played a little pedro and watched the babies play...just perfect.

The next day Chris and Becky came over with Tyler and he and Peyton played ball and bubbles and fought over Tyler's radio. Then we all got ready for dinner at Bob and Arlene's. Aiden was there too and we saw them all in their halloween costumes.
After an excellant dinner we were entertained by Peyton and Tyler running around the house, tackling each other, then running away from each other. We were all in stitches, they were just having fun. The two of them could pass for twins. They both have the same complexion, have the same color hair, and are just about the same height. Peyton is a little chubbier, but neither one looks italian. Aiden, on the other hand, is his own man. He does look italian, but then he has those genes on both sides. They are all their own personalities though. Tyler is quieter, Peyton is all boy, and Aiden is somewhere in between. They are all loving little boys, and joys to be around.
