Kamdyn is one!

it has been a year since I went down to Southern California to stay with Peyton when Kamdyn was born. Again, I headed down to So. Cal. to see both of them for the occassion of Kamdyn's first. Jackie and Tom Gengler picked me up at the airport and I had a great reunion and breakfast with them. Of course, they have again promised to come visit...I'm still waiting! But Tom is retired now, so hopefully it will happen soon.
When we arrived at Brian and Heather's house, Peyton was sitting on a stool at the front door waiting for me. Kami was standing there, very well balanced, but afraid to take that first step. After naps everyone started arriving. A small crowd of just family ate sumptuously of salads and barbequed tri-tip and chicken, and delicious cake. Kami had a great time with the smaller group and all the older kids enjoyed taking turns opening her gifts, while she played with a piece of curling ribbon. She was very dainty when it came to cake time. She tasted but did not dig into it like her brother.
The next day Peyton and I took a scooter ride to the park. He can really ride. He can ride down ramps and around in circles. He will fall and get back up again.
Then the whole family walked to the park to visit the ducks and squirrels and check out the fishermen who were catching catfish. After a while Kami was getting bored with the stroller, so we went off to the park to swing on the swings. Then it was off to Lowe's to buy a dishwasher. Isn't it always the case that when you are going to have a party some appliance breaks or the pipes clog up. The kids were popped after that and fell asleep in the car. After they woke up we had Father's Day dinner at Islands. Kami had a hollow leg that we could not fill up; Peyton ate hot dog and applesauce.
It was a quick but full weekend.
