On Thursday night, Joe, Giselle and I went with John to the Doubletree Hotel in Burlingame where the Fire Buffs were going to honor him with a scholoarship. The Fire Buffs are a group that are called by the Fire Departments in San Mateo County when they have long calls. This group has been bringing food and water to firefighters who are hungry for many years. Since 1995 they have been giving a scholarship to one of the Fire Students at CSM. This year it went to John. Yes, there were only 5 applicants, but not all students were qualified to apply. It was a small scholarship, but a scholarship nonetheless. We were in the presence of the Fire Buffs heirarchy, many chiefs from the county, Keith Marshall, the CSM Fire Program Leader, and Chief Uncle Ron. I know that John appreciated Ron taking time to come to the ceremony.

Typhoid Peyton
Peyton was sick with some kind of flu a couple of weeks ago. He didn't only pass it around in the southland, but he sent it up here too. Joe, Jody and Aiden went to visit for a short couple of days last weekend. Joe's 10 year reundion from St. Anthony's was last Saturday night. Peyton had been fever free for 24 hours, so you would think that it would be OK to let the kids play. They had a really great time........flash forward to Sunday morning 1 a.m. when Aiden got it. Jody and Joe were up with him all night long and then caught a flight back home. He was great on the flight. They thought they were past the worst so continued with the plans for the family Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday night. Aiden was in great spirits until later in the evening; you could just see him fade. Well, by Tuesday, Giselle, Jody, John and Judy had come down with it, then I got it on Thursday. Reminds me of the time that Donny gave everyone the flu that Christmas.
